Acme Speed Shop 1936 Cabriolet Upholstery & Paint
In 2011 the Martinez Industries, Co and Acme Speed Shop Cabriolet 'saga' began. John Mearns, owner of Acme Speed Shop, brought the Cabriolet to the Gardena shop for the top to be chopped as well as a hand built one of a kind 'Carson Top.' The top is one of a kind with a zippered rear window.
A year later 'Round Two' began on the car, this time needing full paint and a brand new interior. The paint and interior was finished in the Gardena shop. Sadly, due to unforeseen problems with the materials used the paint job never cured. We had John bring the car to the new Palm Springs shop and repainted everything. A lot of extra work went into the car, however we always stand by our work and our customers.
When finished the car landed a six-page spread in Rod & Custom Magazine. Both sets of work can be seen on slideshows on this website.
Since the work was extensive (to say the least) we've broken the albums into two pieces one for paint and body and the other for upholstery. We have you enjoy the build as much as we did here at Martinez Industries.
